FAQ
Good questions deserve clear answers. Here you’ll find answers to the things you may be wondering about before starting private Spanish lessons with me. If something is still unclear, just contact me and I’ll be happy to help.
What is it like to learn Spanish with you?
Learning a language is a meaningful long-term project, so I usually work with students over a longer period of time.
We begin with an introductory session. During this session, you can experience how a lesson with me works, see whether my teaching style and materials feel right for you, and talk about your goals, current level and expectations.
The introductory session is non-binding and paid separately. If it feels like a good fit, we will agree on your regular lesson times and you can choose the package that best matches your needs.
What do the lessons look like?
Every lesson is tailored to the student, so no two lessons are exactly the same. I prepare our work according to your level, goals, pace and the kind of Spanish you need in real life.
A typical lesson usually includes conversation in Spanish, feedback on your homework, and several focused activities in our shared online workbook. We might work with an article, a video, a podcast, a real-life situation, a grammar point or interactive exercises.
Most lessons include 3–4 different activities, but sometimes we simply have a more open conversation about your life, current events or topics that naturally come up.
My goal is to create a calm and safe environment where you can practise, make mistakes, ask questions and build confidence. I use materials such as articles, podcasts and videos to support your vocabulary and help you activate it in a natural, systematic way.
What all lessons have in common is this: you speak most of the time — in Spanish, even as a beginner. My role is to guide you with carefully chosen questions, corrections, support and structure, so you can build confidence step by step.
How can I book an introductory session?
It’s simple. You can contact me by email at kristina.uhnak@gmail.com or by WhatsApp at +34 694 295 920.
I will send you my available times for an introductory session, together with a short questionnaire so I can understand your goals, expectations and current situation. This helps me prepare for our first session and helps us make the most of it. 😊
How often do you recommend having lessons?
From experience, students make the strongest progress when they have two regular lessons per week and also spend time with Spanish independently between sessions: doing homework, reviewing vocabulary, listening, reading, and staying connected to the language.
The combination of regular private lessons and independent practice helps you create a positive habit.
Of course, the pace, frequency and intensity of your learning depend on your life and your goals. I will be happy to help you find a system that feels realistic and sustainable for your lifestyle. 💛
I’m a beginner. How long does it take to learn Spanish?
Excellent question — but being able to speak Spanish means something different to everyone.
In our lessons, we speak Spanish from the very first lesson — yes, even if you are a beginner. Of course, if there is a difficult word or a specific grammar point, we can translate it into English.
After a few weeks, you may already be able to order in a restaurant, introduce yourself and manage simple present-tense conversations.
Other goals take longer: having deeper conversations with native speakers, understanding humour, dealing with administrative situations, speaking to doctors, neighbours or local services with confidence.
Your progress depends not only on the intensity of your lessons, but also on your motivation, consistency and the energy you put into Spanish outside our sessions.
My approach is not about quick promises. It is about steady, real progress that helps you feel more capable in daily life in Spain.
How long do I have to use my prepaid lessons?
Each package has a clear validity period, which is stated in the pricing section.
For example, the 10-lesson package is valid for 11 weeks, so the lessons should be completed within that time.
This is not meant to create pressure. It is here to help us keep a regular rhythm, because Spanish becomes easier when you stay connected to it consistently.
If life gets busy and you cannot use your remaining lessons in time, we can convert them into mentoring. I will prepare self-study materials and individual tasks for you, then review your work and give you feedback.
What happens if I need to cancel a lesson?
If your plans change and you cannot attend your lesson, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. Earlier is always appreciated.
If you cancel on time, we can either reschedule the lesson for another available time that week, or replace it with mentoring and independent work. In that case, I will send you materials and tasks, then review your work and give you feedback.
If a lesson is cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled time, it is counted as completed.
The same applies to me. If I ever cancel a lesson with less than 24 hours’ notice, I will offer you an extra lesson free of charge.
This policy helps us keep the learning process clear, respectful and focused on your progress.
What if I go on holiday or get sick?
If you are going on holiday or you are unwell, please let me know as early as possible. Whenever I can, I will help you find a practical solution.
Depending on availability, we may reschedule the lessons or replace them with mentoring and independent work.
If you travel often, have an unpredictable schedule or cannot commit to regular lessons, I may recommend the mentoring programme instead. It is the most flexible format and may fit your lifestyle better. 🙂
Do you teach pairs?
Yes, I do. If you are interested in lessons for two people or have specific needs, please contact me. I will be happy to prepare a tailored offer for you.
